‘Dream Temple’ - Mariko Mori (1999)

“The Dream Temple represents a utopian place, the ideal destination at the end of a path towards spiritual discovery. A journey that culminates in the hi-tech entrance to the flow of consciousness of each living being. The finished temple, built out of dichroic glass, an ever-changing, iridescent surface, serves as a metaphor for both the body and consciousness. Beneath the temple, a vast bed of transparent glass fragments enhances the surreal light of the raised structure that appears magical and shining.”

‘NGC6093’ installation at Ace Gallery, by artist Hiro Yamagata

“The walls, ceiling and floor are covered completely in holographic mylar panels. These reflect over 6,000 mirrored cubes of various sizes hung from the ceiling. Bouncing off of these cubes and the mylar are white light lasers, spotlights, fiber optics and strobe lights. Added to the mix are “cyberlights”, computer-programmed lamps that are somehow able to refract light into several directions and different intensities, speeds, colors, tilts and an endless array of patterns. All of this is programmed into an unbelievably mesmerizing display of refracted color and light.”

*Sorry for the poor video quality, this seems to be one of three videos posted online, the other two i found on archived sites from 2001.
